About the Workplace

Culture is an important driving force in making Helsingborg the most attractive city. Here, an active and visible cultural policy is pursued based on cultural institutions, independent cultural practitioners, and the engagement of civil society. The administration's public activities include Helsingborg's libraries, Helsingborg's museum, Helsingborg's cultural school, and Helsingborg's art hall and Dunkers stages. Together, they are supported by common staff functions for communication, administration, finance, and HR.

Helsingborg's museum is contemporary, relevant, and urgent. We work with issues regarding the role of cultural heritage in long-term societal development and its significance for social and environmental sustainability. The museum includes the attractions Fredriksdal Museums and Gardens, Dunkers Culture House, Kärnan, Kulturmagasinet, Pålsjö Mill, and Möllebacken.

We are now looking for seasonal custodians for Helsingborg's museum, primarily based at Fredriksdal Museums and Gardens. Fredriksdal is an open-air museum and a botanical garden. Here you will find historical parks and buildings, a renowned rose garden, a historical kitchen garden, an extensive fruit garden, and a local cloning archive focusing on fruits, vegetables, roses, perennials, and bulbs. The botanical garden contains Skåne's unique flora, and we conduct conservation work for endangered species. Fredriksdal reflects the Skåne cultural and natural history with its 36 hectares, where living collections of both cultivated plants, wild plants, and local breeds of animals are an important part. The cultivation and animal husbandry are KRAV-certified.

Job Responsibilities

As a seasonal custodian, you will primarily have Fredriksdal Museums and Gardens as your work area. The position consists of a combination of working as a custodian and a host. Your responsibilities include, among other things:

• opening and closing the public buildings on the premises
• ensuring that the park and its buildings look pleasant and inviting
• ensuring that visitors follow the park's rules of conduct
• emptying trash and performing light cleaning as needed
• performing minor custodian tasks and carpentry/painting
• preparation and setup before and after events

Your tasks may vary, and you may need to step in where a helping hand is currently needed. You will also assist with furniture arrangements for conferences or other events and help set up market stalls and booths, as well as staff them before and during events.

As you will also function as a host, it is important that you have a strong interest in the activities of the organization and can inform about them. Your tasks also include communicating clearly and pleasantly while setting boundaries for our visitors.

Qualifications

Requirements

• completed upper secondary education
• driver's license B
• experience in similar tasks
• forklift or wheel loader license
• good Swedish and English in speech and writing

It is also advantageous to have communication skills in a third language. We place great importance on your personal qualities and are looking for someone who is positive, flexible, and resilient. You take responsibility for your tasks and should be able to work both independently and in a team, take initiative, be outgoing, and be prepared to answer visitors' questions. You enjoy varied outdoor tasks, and since the work can be physically demanding, you should be in good physical condition. Since some custodian tasks are included, it is important that you are handy and practically inclined.

Finally, you must also be flexible as no day is the same, and more intensive work periods alternate with less intensive ones. To perform the tasks, you also need to be responsive to the needs of the organization and have the mindset that problems are meant to be solved.
